We are specialised in the challenging field of overmoulded stamped parts and are technological leader in the area of progressive injection moulding: an in-house developed and fully-automated reel-to-reel process for the production of overmoulded stamped parts which offers quality and cost advantages for annual volumes above 100,000 pieces. Electronic components can also be overmoulded with plastic with the production of so-called hybrid parts with integrated electronic components.

Our range of machines includes injection moulding machines with a clamping force up to 320 tonnes and shot weights between 1 and 300 g.

Thermoplastics such as PA, PBT, PC, POM, PPE, PPS or LCP can be processed. The assembly of the finished parts is made via manual insertion on rotary table machines, with automatic insertion machines or multi-axis robot. The overmoulding of the parts is made using the progressive injection moulding process developed in-house at Kummer, with manual insertion on rotary tables or with fully automated insertion using multi-axis robot systems.

Progressive
injection moulding
the reliable process innovation

Progressive injection moulding is the further development of the known reel-to-reel process for the manufacture of overmoulded stamped parts. It combines two production steps in a single machine:

  • the processing of the stamped strip
  • the partial overmoulding up to the finished component

Progressive injection moulding was developed by the Kummer GmbH company approx. 20 years ago. Today this process stands for high process reliability, increased economy and higher quality. This is based on the power of innovation and over 40 years of production experience.

Hybrid assemblies
with electronic components

We offer a one-stop shop solution for the manufacture of hybrid assemblies. In this process we finely tune our production processes which include

  • design and construction of the tools
  • stamping
  • injection moulding of the pre-moulded part
  • assembly of the electronic component
  • final overmoulding
  • testing according to customer requirements
    (e.g. short-circuit, hardness, continuity)

exactly to the requirements of the customer. The result is high quality products with comparatively lower manufacturing costs.

Injection moulding
with 2 components

Our modern range of machines enables the manufacture of 2K overmoulded stamped parts. This means that the components can be manufactured with two different types of plastic in combination with metal.

We also offer this technology in combination with our progressive injection moulding process.

Toolmaking

The tool forms the basis for the later economic series production. The combination of experience and modern production technology is decisive for the construction of tools.

Stamping technology

Using our own tools developed in-house we produce highly complex precision parts for you in small and large scale series. Our range of tools offers you a selection of processes integrated in the tool to enable the efficient manufacture of your product.

Assembly

Your parts are manufactured on numerous assembly lines in compliance with ESD requirements. The selective combination of manual and fully-automated processes exactly tailored to meet the requirements of the customer result in high quality products.

Add. manufacturing

In the area of additive manufacturing, we use selective laser melting to manufacture highly complex components from metal. Using high performance laser beams we apply layers by fusing metal powder.
